Remember when suits and fedoras were fashionable attire for a baseball game? Remember big cars with big fins? When gas prices weren’t an issue? Remember front porches and visits to your neighbor? From buggies to Bentleys, the world has transformed.

The technological revolution has swept up the entire world like a turbocharged vacuum; we’ve all been sucked in. But has anything really changed? We are still the same people; we still appreciate friendship and good times. Things change; the world moves forward but people generally stay the same. We just do things in different ways and in different places. Meeting in person, then the telephone, and now social networks. It’s still the same, just happening in different places (or spaces) and in different ways.

As we reflect on how things once were, we proudly introduce the Current in Pork, a publication that expresses the unique, current viewpoints of those in the pork industry. The theme of this first issue is “Remembering When, the Last 50 Years.”

Have an idea to make this publication better or want to contribute? Let us know. We welcome your opinion and viewpoint too. In the coming month we’ll be launching an online version of the newspaper. Here’s hoping you’ll be a part of the Current’s success!
